The End is near, we hear this almost every day in TV or at the radio. But even though the most of us are sick of hearing this, some of us do believe the end might be somewhere near. Stating that the world will end in 2012 is a trend. So we now have a movie called 2012, a computer game called 2012 and now a Windows Mobile game also called 2012.
Trendy or not, 2012 for Windows Mobile is a pretty fun game. You purpose is to act as the protector of the planet and destroy all the asteroids that are heading towards the Earth. Equipped with powerful weapons, you have to face 5 waves of asteroids and pass thorugh 15 game levels.
Below you can enjoy a brief demo of the game. Also you can read more about 2012 and download it for free at gamedev.sk.
Compatibility: 2012 runs fine on all Windows Mobile PocketPCs and Smartphones. According to some rumours it even works on WVGA Windows Mobile phones.
This is probably one of the stranges games I have ever seen. Considering that it is even right to call this android application a game.
Zombie,Run is a small application, that has been recently developed for Google Android. Your purpose is to avoid being cought by zombies that are near you and in order to do this, you must literally move your legs and run. Not just press some buttons or stimulate your phone’s accelerometer.
In order to start playing the game, you have to turn your GPS on and wait for the game to find zombies that are near you. The application detects green and red zombies. The green zombies are just walking around the streets, scaring people and making chaos, while the red zombies are the ones that are coming out to get you.
But here comes the most fun part of the game. If you have some friend with Android Phones, you can ask them to install Zombie, Run! as well and then you can start haunting zombies together.

Superhero games for Windows Mobile seem to have been developing quite a lot in the past years. It always starts with a great story, that is turned into a popular movie. Few years later after the movie release, computer and mobile games with the hero appear.
Take for example SuperMan, Harry Potter or Matrix. In the case of Spider-Man this happened too: they had the cartoon series, after some years passed we went to the cinema to see the first Spider-Man movie and now… we have Spider-Man Toxic City HD, a game that we can play on any phone featuring Windows Mobile 5, 6 or newer.
The plot of the game is pretty much the same one as in the film: Green Goblin is releasing a serum that will turn innocent civilians into mutant monsters. Spider Man (that means you!) is the only one who can save the city from destruction. In the fight against Evil, you will be in full command of Spider Man’s abilities: web-swinging, wall-crawling and fast fighting moves.
Released in 2009, Spider-Man Toxic City HD is rather compatible to newer HTC Phones, including phones with WVGA resolution display. Below is a list of all HTC models compatible to the game: 8900/8925 / Dash / Dash 3G / Juno / Shadow / Leo / HD 2 / P3700 / P3700v / P4600 / P5500 / P6500 / S740 / T3232 / T4242 / Touch 2 / Mega / Touch Diamond2 / Pure / Touch HD / Touch Pro2 / Tilt 2.
With cool graphics, interactive commands and lots of levels and fights to pass over, the game is definitely worth the 4.99 USD that it costs. You can buy this application directly from the producer’s page, also make sure to check gameloft.com for other games. They’ve developed some very powerful and exciting games for Windows Mobile.
Remember the boring Solitare card game we used to play on Windows PC’s when we had nothing better to do? Sure we do, I’m pretty sure most of us played Solitaire at least once in their life. Well note this: Solitaire City has nothing to do with that simple, annoying game.
Solitaire City consists of a pack of great card games, easily to be installed on iPhones and Windows Mobile touch phones. Among the games you will find some of the post popular card games, for example: Poker, Golf – Demon, FreeCell, Spider Solitaire, Eliminato and Tri-Peaksm.
To put in other words: you pay $18.95 and get not just one single game, but a pack of card games for Windows Mobile. In addition you will receive a 2 year subscription to all available game updates.
Note that Solitaire City is compatible to all touch screen Windows
Mobile devices, including phones with VGA or WVGA display.
Also if you’re not quite sure if the game pack is worth the money, you can test out the one month trial.
I think Resco Sudoku Touch fits best to those of you who spend lots of time playing sudoku. In comparison to Simply Sudoku, the sudoku game developed by Resco can be considered in a way the advanced version of the game.
Not only does it support Windows Mobile 5, but it is compatible to about any Windows Mobile OS.
Instead of describing the game from my present experience, I’d like to quote Shaun McGill who already formulated my idea prefect:
“Sudoku Touch is simple to set up, a pleasure to use and the iPhone style interface has been implemented to perfection. For a moment there, I forgot I was playing it on a Windows Mobile device.”
Resco Sudoku Touch is indeed a pleasant experience, however you have to keep in mind this: great experience demands a great price. The one time fee for this game is $19.95.
Note that Resco Sudoku Touch is also entirely compatible and runs in full screen mode on WVGA phones.
Starting with the launch of HTC HD 2, more and more phones have begun to feature WVGA displays. And in spite of the clarity and more performant web browsing that comes from higher resolution, the WVGA display has some negative aspects too.
The most important of these is in my opinion the growth in energy consuming. More pixels means more battery ussage and mare battery ussage means that the producers have to create larger and heavier batteries.
The second most important negative aspect is the lack of compatibility to older software and games. Most WVGA phones (and the largest part of WGVA HTC’s) feature Windows Mobile, which means all previous applications for Windows Mobile should be compatible. Unfortunately this is not the case: only few of the XVGA or QVGA games work on WVGA phones in Fullscreen and we’d like to list them all below:
Driving 8 powerful Ferrari models on tracks from 4 different cities and this with 3D graphics. Playing Ferrari GT HD really makes me wonder, how long will it take for smartphones to become as powerful as desktop PC’s.
I’ve always had the reflex of stepping away from racing games on phones, since the display is so small and usually the joystick or the keys (they can never be bigger than few milimeters) you press get so uncomfortable when it comes to handling a virtual car. But Ferrari GT HD Evolution… I have to say that Gameloft did a very good job on this game.
There’s been done some more research and testing on this game. On Youtube I bumped over some films that can help you get a quick view at the game’s graphic.
We’ve read on the producers page that Ferrari GT HD Evolution is compatible to HTC P3600 / P3650 / P4550 / P5500 / P6500. But after a few tests we can tell that it works perfectly fine on never HTC models as long as they feature a Windows Mobile 6, 6.1 and a touch display. And even though Ferrari GT HD was initially designed for QVGA phones we could get it to work on WVGA phones, such as HTC HD 2, too.
Pac-man represented one of the central figures of my childhood and I’m sure this game did so to many other people. It’s a simple game in which you are being chased by colored bugs and have to eat all the points from the screen without being cought by any of those bugs.
The more levels you pass, the faster the bugs are moving and the quicker you have to react and anticipate where the bugs are next heading to.
Among the games you can get for free on the Android Market I found Pacman Android. I know, it’s to as complex and intersting as playing Counter Strike or World of Warkraft, but Pac-Man on Android can too become fun.
Since game installation is easy to be done on Android phones I say you download Pac-Man and give it a dry.
Without any doubt, Monopoly is one of the most popular board games ever created. Years ago every parent use to buy a Monopoly for his children. And then the kids, every time they had nothing to do, their first impulse was “Let’s play Monopoly!”.
The development of a mobile version for Monopoly is surely some great news for the board game fans. For Windows Mobile there have been created not just one, but several Monopoly games: starting with the classic game and ending with much more fun versions, such as: Monopoly Tycoon Mobile or Monopoly Here & Now Mobile.
With all the original locations, tokens and rules, Monopoly Classic is identical to the game we used to play at home with friends, on the table.
Note that all Monopoly mobile games were written in Java and since all HTC Phones have a Java Adaptor, they should be compatible to all HTC’s, regardless of their Operating System. Each Monopoly costs $9.95, for more download infos please visit handandgo.com.
Simply Sudoku is a small application, which allows you to play sudoku games on your Windows Mobile phones. Since to developers haven’t updated it since January 2006, don’t expect to work on newer phone models. The only HTC phones compatible to this game are the ones featuring Windows Mobile 2003 or Windows Mobile 5 and a touch display.
From easy to advanced levels, Simply Sudoku can generate an impressive number of puzzles. Precisely 6,670,903,752,021,072,936,960. This is certainly one of the games I regret not being developed anymore.
The game can be bought at pocketgear for $12.95. More infos
