Starting with the launch of HTC HD 2, more and more phones have begun to feature WVGA displays. And in spite of the clarity and more performant web browsing that comes from higher resolution, the WVGA display has some negative aspects too.
The most important of these is in my opinion the growth in energy consuming. More pixels means more battery ussage and mare battery ussage means that the producers have to create larger and heavier batteries.
The second most important negative aspect is the lack of compatibility to older software and games. Most WVGA phones (and the largest part of WGVA HTC’s) feature Windows Mobile, which means all previous applications for Windows Mobile should be compatible. Unfortunately this is not the case: only few of the XVGA or QVGA games work on WVGA phones in Fullscreen and we’d like to list them all below:
- Monopoly Here & Now Edition
- Archibald’s Adventures
- Assassin’s Creed 3D
- CSI Miami WVGA (TG01 Edition)
- Spider Man Toxic City HD
- Ferrari GT WVGA (TG01 Edition)
- StarCraft (works ONLY on WVGA)
- Bookworm Deluxe v2.o
- DragonBall WVGA
- Crazy Taxi (WVGA)
- Resco Brain Games v3.0\
- Resco Bubbles
- Resco Sudoku Touch
- Travel Genius – v1.0
- Real Football Manager 2010
- Virtual Pool Mobile
- Pocket Uno – v1.43
- Sherlock Holmes (WVGA)
- Civilization IV: War of the 2 Cities
- Solitaire City
- NFS Undercover
- Experiment 13 (WVGA)
- Dogz 2 (WVGA)
- Speed City
- Atomic Cannon
- Archibald’s Adventures
- Bejeweled 2
- Prince of Persia
- GT Racing: Motor Academy (WVGA)
- Asphalt 4 (WVGA)
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction v.2.5.0

If you know any other game that works on QWGA phones featuring Windows Mobile, please let us know and will imediately add it to our list.
